A Vintage Picnic Love Shoot

My sister and I have been talking about pursuing styling, well..engagement styling in particular, as a means of expanding our market for our online vintage clothing store. So as soon as my friend Darlene agreed to be our first customer, we started with the planning ASAP.

Here's a sneak peak
I never really thought that engagement shoots were this labor intensive! We were also lucky that our bride-to-be was very hands-on and did the props for the set. All we had to do that day was assist them with their clothes change, show pegs to the Make up artist and set up the picnic area. And I thought is was that easy, specially when it started to rain so hard after we had set up! waaahhh!

Oh the challenges that we went through that day, good thing we were surrounded by very supportive people.

We were also very lucky to have the opportunity to work with the couple's young and creative team, Ruffa and Mike Photography, Marvin Barbarona and Khite Bautista.

Here's what went on that day:

Project: couple shoot :)

A couple of posts ago, I had a collaboration with my friend Karen Luzon for our latest collection; and for weeks now we’ve been planning another shoot to add to her portfolio, a couple shoot! J well, it would be presented as an engagement shoot but we’d like to call it a couple shoot since my boyfriend and I aren't engaged "yet" (imagine how our parents would think when they find out that we were going to have a prenup shoot without their knowledge! *well this actually happened, my mom asked me about this and we clearly told her it was a COUPLE SHOOT, haha!) .

we've had a lot of photos taken from our camera phone but we'd love to have  a styled shoot :)
We were supposed to do the shoot last weekend but typhoon “Ferdie” had good timing wrecking havoc in Metro Manila; so there we were a bit sad cause of the weather but thankful that it would buy us more time to prepare the clothes (more trips to the thrift shop!) and the backdrop and props that would make our shoot more interesting and a little less amateur (we’ll try our best J )

Meeting Ruffa and Mike

Ruffa and Mike
I could spend the whole day in front of the PC surfing around the internet about photography. Luckily, with all those hours spent; I discovered a gem right here, Ruffa and Mike a young couple so madly in love so contagious you could see it from the couples in their photos. They're quite new in the business but as I went through their blog, I've never seen an impressive portfolio from an up and coming talent as theirs.

So when my close friend Marion  asked me for some recommendations I just showed her Ruffa and Mike's blog and she was sold with the idea! and yesterday evening we met up with them.

Shooting Boudoir Style Photos

I blogged a couple of days ago that I was going to shoot photos of my friends boudoir style ( Thank God for supportive/ "kikay" friends). Here are a couple of my post processed shots.

Historically, the boudoir formed part of the private suite of rooms of a lady, for bathing and dressing, adjacent to her bedchamber, being the female equivalent of the male cabinet. In later periods, the boudoir was used as a private drawing room, and was used for other activities, such as embroidery or spending time with one's romantic partner. (source)

mini photo shoot for shop euphoria

I just to share to you guys some photos of the small photo shoot we had with my colleagues for Shop Euphoria. Medically, Euphoria means happiness :)

Khel started the business a few weeks ago but have been thinking of starting her shop months prior. A few of our friends then lent her a hand; Love modeled her products, Karmie was in charge of hair and make up and I took the shots.

White

I woke up yesterday with a serious drive to complete the next collection and a really bad cold. tsktsk... I guess it was because of the change in weather (which I hate) not to mention, not being able to take photos of the next collection on our backyard. Luckily, my papa bought a big Styrofoam board so that I can have a decent white background. Here are some shots of my humble room/ studio (feeling lang) haha! :P

Attached it to the wall with double sided tape
I decided that it would be more appropriate for the products to be photographed against a white background, so that the focus would be on the clothes.

Clinic Photoshoot

I was off duty yesterday but I was requested to come by the clinic for a quick photo shoot for the company's organizational chart. Since Shinagawa is a Japanese company, it was very fitting to be made up by a Japanese Hair and make up artist too :) Geeky as it might sound, I was so excited and anxious to be photographed. I felt like I was just more comfortable to be behind the camera.

Here I am with Glen, Akira's assistant.

Here's my very gloomy "before" photo
Notice the sparse eyebrows and dry "curly top" hair, hahaha!!! I badly need a makeover stat!

Setcard shoot for love

My friend Love contacted me that we needed to revise the setcard that we prepared for her go see/audition. She needed to include whole body pics, so after work we had a mini photoshoot, and here's what we had:

making a model setcard

My photogenic approached me yesterday if I could help her with her model set card. A model set card is given to potential agents or companies that a model would want to model for. It should have the model's measurements, height, weight shoe and dress size and other important information (like your contact details) that would be pertinent for the agent. Photos should show the versatility of the model and should have both whole body and beauty shots; both with minimal make up and also can have avant garde make up. Photos should have high resolution to be appreciated; and then collated in a fashion that is clean and professional.

I'd like to share to you a little freebie for both models and photographers who wants to easily create a professional looking set card.

Here's the finished product.

Photographing Love: A natural model

After I got my second hand camera, I was so trigger happy that I wanted to shoot anything just to practice my photography. I then had an idea to update my co-workers' portraits and in turn help me learn more about photography, and of course having a photo shoot with them was both fun and rewarding, even though I did not want to get paid for it.

Actually before shooting Mommy Khel, I shot Love's photos first. And it was definitely hassle-free! She was lucky to have a photographer brother so she had a lot of experience projecting in front of the camera, so after our duty we had a mini photo shoot. Here are some of my favorite shots:
Love poses effortlessly, I love it!

Meet Khel, a first time mom- to-be to our clinic's first baby. We convinced Mommy Khel to have her maternity shots photographed by yours truly, to immortalize her sexy pregnant body.

Shop love: Izzo Shop

I bought my uncle's DSLR last month in the hope of pursuing my love of photography. I was skeptical in buying his Nikon D70 at first but after a lot of research and reading I decided that it was a great buy for an entry level DSLR. I had the kit, spare batteries and 2 other spare CF cards and that's all. I still had to buy a lot of things like screen protectors, lens cleaning sheets and a camera bag. I searched for camera bags in the internet and found a flurry of black padded and bulky mannish- looking bags and then I saw "the satchel". I inquired with A LOT of online sellers, and every one of them was out of stock. It was funny though, I am a Multiply seller and I almost forgot to search for it in the multiply market place. And then I did! luckily, I found this cute shop, selling mainly camera bags, straps and gadget cases. IZZO SHOP

I immediately filled up an order form and texted Madz. I was so relieved that the design that I wanted was on stock and they have the lowest price from everyone that I inquired from! Here is a description taken from their site.

Our most chic cam bag to date, you can also use it as a regular bag!

- thick plain printed canvass exterior with synthetic leatherette trimming
- fully padded body with 8mm thick foam
- with grey nylon oxford inside
- with fully padded adjustable dividers
- metal snap closure
- 11.5 in x 8 in x 4 in
- outside pocket measures 9.5 in x 5.5 in x 1.75 in
- 750php only!

After everything was cleared up, I paid for my MOLLY BAG the next day, and got my package on Thursday, just as it was scheduled. Happiness!
