Cheap Thrill: Tapsilog sa Dahon

My sister Audie has been raving about this Tapsihan that they ate at a couple of weeks ago, I was so intrigued specially by looking at the photos of what they ate, how yummy it looked and how pretty the presentation was :) Who knew that a humble store like theirs can offer Crepes! :)

I then researched and found that they have a Facebook account. Excited as I was, I asked the boyfriend to accompany me and do a little food trip and find Tapsilog sa Dahon.

That's me with the owners Bernard and Katrina Fernandez Samonte
Tapsilog sa Dahon (tapsilog wrapped in banana leaf) was founded in February 2006, which was formerly owned by Alex Fernandez and his wife Annabelle, now maintained by Bernard and Katrina Fernandez- Samonte (coincidentally Katrina's been my Gradeschool and High School classmate, she didn't recognize me at all! haha)
Customers can be added immediately on Facebook as soon as you've paid your tab! :)
check out the ingenious looking menu behind the happy guy here, hahaha! (I believe this is the old menu though) *photo taken from their Facebook account
We just rode a jeep to Guadalupe and stopped at A. Mabini St. at Poblacion Makati at 10:30 PM :P we actually  thought that they were already closed but as we walked the street and smelled something really yummy we just continued to walk and found their location! and boy at that time they still had a lot of patrons!

The boyf and I quite had a hard time choosing because we wanted to try them all, so we then ended up ordering the Deep fried liempo and Spicy Garlic Tapa both for 80 pesos each (and then we realized that one order can be shared by 2 people), 3 servings of Garlic fried rice (sinangag) and two bottles of Mountain Dew for drinks.

Macro shot of the deep fried Liempo- surprisingly it wasn't that oily :)
Deep fried Liempo served with a small bowl of spiced vinegar :)
Spicy Garlic Tapa- presentation really makes food more delicious

The boyfriend and I had a really nice time with our simple and fun food trip date, eating out on a budget was never this fun, specially when you make new friends :)

Just when were about to finish our food their sweet staff offered if we would like to try their desserts :) Ahh....the infamous selection of desserts my sister was talking to me about. I was about to order their Mango float but she said that it still has to chill a bit more sow..... ;p we then decided to try their Mocha Icebox cake and chocolate crepe, YUM! the best part is... ITS JUST 25 PESOS EACH ORDER! haha! Nakakatuwa tlaga!  Check out the yummy photos below
